The radon content in our house must be measured
This year we will measure if there is radon in the house. Radon is a radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer, so it is important that measurements are made at regular intervals.
We will measure in 45 apartments. The flats that are relevant to measure in are mainly those located on the ground floor and by the lifts.
The board will contact you who have apartments that are relevant for measurement. If you have a studio next to the lift, you are welcome to register your interest in the measurement.
The measurement means that you have two small measuring boxes in the apartment for two to three months. It will take place during autumn and winter. You who live in the apartment where the measurement is made do not need to do anything extra, but just live as usual. However, it is important that someone actually lives in the apartment, so it does not stand empty during the measurement period. The cans are then sent to a lab so that we get a measurement result.
Radon can enter buildings from the ground, building materials or domestic water. The only way to detect radon is to take measurements. If you want to read more, there is additional info at The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority's website.
